What we publish:
Poetry
Submit up to 8 pages of poetry. It can be spaced/formatted however you'd prefer. Please include appropriate content warnings.
Prose Poetry
Submit up to 3 pages, double spaced, of prose poetry. Interpret "prose poetry" however you'd like. Please include appropriate content warnings.
Memoir
Submit up to 3 pages, double spaced, of creative nonfiction/memoir. Please include appropriate content warnings.
Nonfiction
Please reach out to us at submissions.bluemoonmagazine@gmail.com to pitch ideas for nonfiction pieces or interviews.
Flash Fiction
Submit up to 3 flash fiction pieces that are up to 1,000 words each. Please include appropriate content warnings.
Visual Art
Submit up to 10 photos, paintings, collages or other pieces of visual art.
Our Guidelines:
- Blue Moon accepts simultaneous submissions.
- Blue Moon accepts previously published work. Please make sure that there are no copyright issues before submitting.
- Artists are encouraged to publish work under any name they feel comfortable using, so long as they are not impersonating another individual.
- Blue Moon accepts work that employs strong language, including slurs (with the appropriate content warnings) that relate to the author's own identity.
- Blue Moon will never charge a reading fee.
- However, that means that at present we do not have the resources to pay artists for their contributions. Blue Moon does believe in the importance of compensation for artists and we hope that in the future we will be able to pay artists for their work!
- Art that was created using AI programs is absolutely not accepted. If an artist has a piece that creatively utilizes AI-generated text or images but contains original work as well, please either reach out to us at submissions.bluemoonmagazine@gmail.com or include a disclaimer and additional information in your cover letter.
- Blue Moon holds the right to reject submissions at any time.
